These free printable Printable Wall Art Black And White whales were created after I finished sprucing up my black and white tiled basement bathroom. The perfect accent was to create these beautiful minimalistic black ink sketches of whales to complete the paper white (Benjamin Moore paint color) blank walls.

Try another color on your frame to add a different look. I used a stained wood frame above for my 8×10 black and white images. You can also try a metallic gold or silver for a shiny finish. A frame choice can change the whole look of these black and white wall art printable images.
Paper for printables
You can use regular copy paper, however, I really like Epson presentation matte paper whenever I print something out at home on my inkjet printer. The colors and lines come out crisper and the paper is of better quality. I have provided trim marks on these printables so all you can trim these printables down a few ways.
Trimming your black and white images
Below are three easy options on how to crop your printed black and white images. choose the one that works for you. I have used all three options at some point.
- Take a metal ruler, line up the trim lines and then with an exacto blade cut along side the ruler. Do this on all four sides.
- With a pencil and a ruler, make a light pencil line from trim mark to trim mark, and with a scissor cut along light pencil line. You need steady hands for this!
- Or, you can use a paper trimmer, line up the trim lines and cut to size.
Frames for black and white printables
For my project I bought these perfect black frames with mattes at H&M for $12.99 each. they are 10×10″ frames, however the image size with the matte is 6″x6″. I love the matte for an added dimension for my printable black and white wall art. You can also find these fun frames on Amazon as well.
How to Place your black and white printable in the frames.
If you are using a frame with a mat, the easiest way is to cut your image a little bigger than the opening of the mat. Then, place your image and align it to the mat. Using a few pieces of tape, tape each side your image on the back side of the mat. This way it will secure it to your mat and you can make sure that the image is aligned correctly before putting your frame together with the glass on top.
Additional frame options
Take a look below at some additional frames that I picked out to frame this black and white wall art. I included frames that would fit my black and white sized PDF files. You can also change out the mat color for another look for your wall art.
Note* for the larger 8×10″ size you will need to either have a printer that has the capabilities of printing on 11×17″ (Tabloid size) paper, or you can bring to a printer who can print this for you.

- Metal Ruler– important when cutting with an xacto blade- plastic rulers will end up getting cut by the xacto blade.
- Fiskars Xacto knife– You can buy this knife and replacement blades.
- Friskars paper trimmer– The easiest and quickest way to trim your paper projects.
- Cutting mat– (If you are using an x acto blade and not the paper trimmer) I use mine for all my cutting projects, whether they are paper or fabric.
