Printable Advent Calendar Template-That Are Gingerbread houses!
Check out these printable Advent calendar templates that are gingerbread houses. I created these so that instead of a flat 2D advent calendar, I would have 3D gingerbread houses.
The purpose of these Advent printable gingerbread house templates was so that they could house gifts and activities. Attach some ribbon and string them up like garland, or decorate a tree with them.

DIY Advent calendar houses
I created these fun Advent calendar houses to house activities and or small gifts. Assembly is super easy, and can be a fun family activity. Tie some pretty ribbon to complete the gingerbread houses. They can open them up either from the top or from the bottom flaps.

Steps to constructing DIY Advent houses
Check out all the steps below on how easy these are to construct.
- Print on cardstock for a sturdier Advent gingerbread house
- Fold at all sides- use a straight edge like a ruler or the side of a table. (All directions are illustrated in the free download.)
- Glue tab to opposite side of house to form all 4 sides of the house- let glue set before continuing
- Fold all 4 bottom tabs to close the bottom of the house
- Fold tabs at the triangle part of the house; you can either glue or not, and close up the two other sides.
- I used a clip when I glued these to help set the glue and keep the roof looking good!
- Use a hole punch, then thread ribbon and a loop.
- Fill with either fun activities or small gifts.
Supplies for DIY Advent paper houses
Below are all the supplies I used for these:
Using Cardstock gives you the structure you will need for these printable gingerbread house templates. Made for printing and can easily cut and make your gingerbread houses!
Craft glue, or glue stick needed to glue the tab to complete the box for the house and the top tabs. I personally like the craft glue, which I think is a little stronger for this specific project.
A hole puncher is a go-to tool in my craft closet. Once the printable gingerbread house is complete, punch a hole at the top and thread a decorative ribbon through the hole.
Now you can thread a decorative ribbon through the hole punch. I would recommend a thinner 1/4″ ribbon, as shown below, and not exceed 1/2″. If you try and thread a thicker ribbon, you may tear the hole. I double my ribbon, thread through the hole, then not the two ends together. Then pull the loop up, and it’s all ready to hang! Super easy.
What can I put in a homemade Advent calendar?
Lots of things! These houses’ finished measurements are 2 5/8″ by 2 1/4″, and at the tallest point is 4″. Make them out of cardboard to support small gifts. Or make it in a lighter-weight paper and add printed slips of paper with activities for month-long fun.
