This post is about a great gift basket idea to thank someone. Included are free files. This will help you create an amazing gift basket of your own!
Why I needed a Gift Basket
When I started my new website, Double Arrow Designs, My first order of business was an amazing photograph that would emit to everyone who I was. This couldn’t be done with a selfie. What I needed was a professional, and not just any professional! I had one person in mind, her name is Ilona Lieberman and she is such a talented photographer and friend since childhood. I wanted to thank Ilona back with a gift that I had created.
Years ago when Double Arrow Designs was conceived with my sister, Nicole. We created many things including these fun etched glasses. You can read all about that journey, here. I loved the idea of making a set for Ilona.
My idea was to make a gift basket to thank her. I decided on a gift basket with a set of four etched wine glasses, stenciled white flour sack towels and wine. These are similar Wine glasses that I purchased, through amazon.
How to Etch Wine glasses
- Wash and dry your glasses that you will be etching.
- Purchase or use the free stencil I have included (see below!)
- Print stencil out using contact paper.
- Cut appropriately to size on glass, and adhere in place.
- Use etching cream and apply with small sponge brush.
- Follow directions for cream for length of time, and care.
- Wash cream off and remove stencil sticker.
- You have beautiful customized glasses!
I then purchased a wicker basket, you can either buy or find one that you have already in the house. Purchase some fun wine, I also added whimsical customized tea towels and finish off with some tissue paper.
To go one more step I took the tissue and personalized it to add another layer to my custom basket. I used my silhouette Machine to create this stencil and decided on arrows to brand my gift.
How to stencil Tea Towels
- Purchase cotton Tea towels, click here to purchase the ones I used for this.
- Wash and dry towels, this will size and help prepare for stenciling.
- Purchase or use the cute Arrow stencil I have included
- Print stencil out using contact paper.
- Position on towel
- Use Fabric paint, I used Jacquard fabric paint and a stencil brush
- Stipple on paint, do not overload brush, you can always add more if needed.
- Let paint dry, peel stencil off.
- Use an Iron to set paint into towel.
At last, I had all my components for my Gift Basket!
- Line the wicker basket with tissue.
- Placed wine bottle in center.
- Wrap individual glasses to prevent breaking.
- fold and tie individual tea towels, I used white Grosgrain ribbon to add a finishing touch.
- Wrap entire basket and contents in clear wrapping paper.
- white grosgrain ribbon to tie at top.
